Abstract
- The presence of brominated flame retardants in Mexico is discussed and a prospective analysis is proposed. Through a bibliographic review of 16 scientific research articles, the presence of these compounds in coasts, soils, landfills, coastal lagoons and effluents from wastewater treatment plants, in the eggs of the aplomado falcon and in the skin of the whale shark has been reported. These compounds have also been found in the blood of Mexicans living in some states of the country. The presence of these contaminants in other Mexican environments and their effects on their biota are unknown. More studies are required to expand knowledge on this subject. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
