Abstract

The Oberlin Conservatory of Music's Warner Concert Hall is home to the Van Cleef Family Organ, a Flentrop organ built in 1974. Oberlin College has a long history of offering studies in organ and sacred music, with its organ collection dating back to the 1870s. The Flentrop organ represents a shift towards historically informed organbuilding and has had a significant impact on organ culture in the United States. The instrument has undergone alterations over the years to enhance its tonal palette and provide a platform for historically informed music instruction. The Flentrop organ continues to be a valuable resource for students, teachers, and lovers of the organ. [Extracted from the article]
