Abstract
- The article views issues related to teaching English via cognitive methods. At the centre of attention is the acquisition of the semantics of the particle “out” as part of some phrasal verbs. For that purpose, two groups of bachelor students at the Medical College, Medical University, were chosen in the 2022/2023 academic year. One of the groups served as the control, and the other as the experimental one. The former group learned the meaning of some phrasal verbs with “out” through translation, while the latter group was introduced to some cognitive methods, e.g. visualization, extensive explanation, etc. The results based on a test show that the experimental group performed better. Although the study cannot be considered statistically significant, it is a valuable attempt to introduce innovative methods in teaching EAP. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
