Abstract

Adequate nutrition is a vital aspect in the proper development of pregnancy. Micronutrients are one of the most important dietary components during pregnancy, since they play multiple roles in both the proper development of pregnancy and embryonic development. Ensuring an appropriate supply of micronutrients during pregnancy reduces the risk of obstetric and fetal complications and even the development of pathologies in adulthood. For this reason, the nutritional assessment of the pregnant woman is imperative, so that her daily dietary requirements can be individualized, guided about the different food sources where she can obtain these components and educated her about the important functions they perform, avoiding these imbalances during pregnancy.
