Abstract

A 24-year-old man with anti-MDA5 dermatomyositis exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with cyclophosphamide, tacrolimus, and unspecified steroids. He initially presented with a purpuric rash, followed by fever, flu-like symptoms, and dark urine. Extensive investigations revealed lung abnormalities and lymphadenopathy, leading to a diagnosis of anti-MDA5 dermatomyositis. Despite treatment, his respiratory condition worsened, requiring intubation and transfer to another facility for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. [Extracted from the article]
