Abstract
- The article focuses on the alarming rise of succulent poaching in South Africa, particularly within the unique Succulent Karoo Biome, which is home to many endemic plant species. It highlights the dramatic increase in illegal harvesting activities since 2019, with over a million succulents seized from traffickers, significantly impacting biodiversity and pushing many species towards extinction.
