Abstract

This document is a response to a study titled "Pancreatic Enzyme Use Reduces Pancreatitis Frequency in Children With Acute Recurrent or Chronic Pancreatitis: A Report From INSPPIRE." The authors of the response express interest in the study but suggest that certain points need further clarification. They recommend including proton pump inhibitor (PPI) usage as a risk factor analysis, considering the impact of endoscopic or surgical treatment on reducing additional acute pancreatitis episodes, conducting a subgroup analysis on the duration of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) treatment, and comparing pain symptoms between the enzymes group and the no-enzymes group. The authors of the response appreciate the comments and state that their study has successfully examined the relationship between PERT use and recurrent acute pancreatitis episodes.
