Comparative analysis of flexural strength of hybrid chromium alloy and synthetic reinforced epoxy composite.

Abstract

This research is based on assessing the flexural behaviour of three novel hybrid composites: carbon fibre reinforced chromium alloy composite, kevlar fibre reinforced chromium alloy composite, and glass fibre reinforced chromium alloy composite. In the control group, epoxy polymer chromium alloy composite was fabricated and then compared with Epoxy- Chromium alloy laminate. Composites utilised in this research includes a novel hybrid composite that comprises three experimental groups and one control group. There were 20 samples from each group and a total sample size of 80 taken according to ASTM standard of flexural testing on composites from each experimental group and control group. From this study flexural strength of hybrid composite groups are greater than that of Epoxy-laminate composite (EpCr). Flexural strength of carbon fibre composite (CfCr) is 47.8175 MPa, Kevlar fibre composite (KfCr) is 56.6560 MPa, glass fibre composite (GfCr) is 34.9830 MPa, and epoxy-Cr composite (EpCr) is 27.8054 MPa with a significance value of 0.001. In which carbon fibre reinforced with chromium alloy composite has the highest flexural strength. From various evaluations and statistical analysis within reach of this study, it was concluded that Flexural behaviour of Hybrid Chromium alloy composite was found to be higher than that of flexural behaviour of epoxy laminate composite.
