Abstract

Phytochemicals are chemical compounds derived from therapeutic plants that have a variety of pharmacological effects. In particular, flavonoids are the most effective phytochemical components with various biological activities and pharmacological effects. Luteolin is an important flavonoid found naturally in many plant species. This study aimed to investigate the antibacterial effect of luteolin flavonoid obtained from terebinth (Pistacia terebinthus L.) bark extracts. In the study, MIC values of luteolin against reference strains Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Streptococcus agalactiae ATCC 12401, Enterococcus feacalis ATCC 29212 were investigated by broth microdilution method. As a result of the study, it was determined that luteolin showed antibacterial activity against all tested strains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
