Abstract
- This mini-review addresses lipoxygenases and receptors for leukotrienes in hematological malignancies. Potential novel biomarkers and drug targets in leukemia and B-cell lymphoma are discussed. • B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia and B-cell lymphoma have high expression of 5-lipoxygenase. • Inhibition of the 5-lipoxygenase pathway or leukotriene B 4 receptor might inhibit the migration of malignant B cells. • Chronic myeloid leukemia cells possess high leukotriene C 4 synthase activity. • Hodgkin Reed-Sternberg cells express 15-lipoxygenase and cysteinyl-leukotriene receptor 1. • Potential novel biomarkers and drug targets in hematological malignancies are discussed.
