Abstract

Research on the manufacture of particle board from various mass of cocodust and liquid rubber compound has been carried out. First cocodust with different masses of 53, 54, 55, 56, and 57 g with 30% of liquid rubber compound was mixed to obtain a particle board with the size of 5 x 10 x 7.5 cm in length, width and height then dried. Then the particle board is pressed to get a thickness of 2.5 cm which is the thickness of the particle board that is commonly circulating in the market. The next step is to characterization the particle board according to SNI 03-2105-2006 which includes modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR), screw pullout resistance and thermal testing. The characterization results show that the best mass for the manufacture of particle board of this size is 55 g cocodust. In the best mass of cocodust, particle board have MOR, MOE, screw pullout resistance and thermal resistance values of 5212.62 g/mm2, 9053.63 g/mm2, 108670 g/mm2 and 240°C respectively.
