Abstract

This document is a letter to the editor discussing a systematic review and meta-analysis on the topic of deprescribing in older inpatients. The analysis found that deprescribing interventions in hospitals were associated with a small but significant reduction in readmissions. The authors suggest that future meta-analyses should focus on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and analyze observational data separately. They also mention that while longer-term studies may show sustained reductions in rehospitalization, the early benefits of deprescribing may already justify its implementation. The authors disclose their financial interests and affiliations, and the article did not receive any funding. [Extracted from the article]
