Abstract
- The article discusses the role of handheld regalia in showcasing rank and prestige among Yoruba elites, particularly in Ọ̀wọ̀, emphasizing the significance of objects like swords, staffs, and beaded adornments in ceremonial and ritual contexts. It also discusses the cultural history of Ọ̀wọ̀'s hierarchy, the evolution of these symbolic objects from weaponry to regalia, and the ongoing collaboration between artists and titleholders to innovate within traditional practices.
