Abstract
- The article presents information about the disease of sunburn. Both in the short term and long term, fair-skinned, blue-eyed individuals who rarely or never tan, but easily burn, are at the greatest risk of sunburn. The exposed area becomes erythematous within 24 hours. The more severe cases will actually blister, sometimes suffering second-degree burns. Analgesics such as aspirin or an NSAID will help to ease the pain and inflammation, together with simple first aid treatment to the burn. Only very severe cases will need hospital admission for rehydration and skin care.
