Abstract

In the era of the knowledge economy, how to resolve the paradox of openness so as to realise open innovation and promote the development of indigenous innovation has become an urgent problem for enterprises to solve. This study selects Huawei Hisilicon as the research object to conduct an exploratory single case study and draws the following conclusions: (1) open paradox has stages and the main paradox problems are different at varying stages; (2) enterprises should adopt different open-innovation modes to promote indigenous innovation and different strategies to solve the paradoxes at different development stages. In addition, this paper divided inbound open innovation into dependent and dominant types and revealed the specific forms of the paradox of openness, which have important theoretical and practical value for enterprises to resolve the paradox of openness and realise open innovation to promote the development of indigenous innovation.
