Is war a social trauma? The question appears to be self-evident as war per se disrupts the expected, destroys safety, overwhelms people and brings suffering and destruction to entire nations. Nevertheless, war was initially excluded from the psychoanalytical theory of social trauma, which was conceptualized using the paradigm of persecution and genocide.
