Abstract

This article delves into the philosophical influences on Karl Rahner's theology of original sin, highlighting his originality and independence. It emphasizes the importance of visual imagery in understanding Rahner's theology, rather than relying solely on concepts. The article explores Rahner's engagement with Kant's philosophy of knowledge and his departure from it, as well as his incorporation of Heidegger's focus on Being. It also examines Rahner's interpretation of original sin as a state of the world hindered by sin and ignorance, and discusses the role of baptism in removing original sin and establishing belonging to the Church.
