Using a Smartphone Camera's Manual Focusing in Distant Optics Lessons to Learn Lens and Mirror Images.

Physics instructors have faced challenges in providing relevant and interesting content to students in distant courses during the COVID-19 pandemic. To address this, a study used the manual focusing feature of smartphone cameras to demonstrate the relative positions of images in mirror and lens setups. Videos of manual focus practices were recorded and shown to students during distant optics lessons. The videos were found to be effective in helping students understand the concepts of image formation and light ray propagation.
