Abstract
- This article presents research on the global burden of vaccine-associated angioedema, a rare but potentially serious reaction to vaccines. The study analyzed data from a global pharmacovigilance database and found that the incidence of vaccine-associated angioedema has been increasing, especially during the 2009 influenza pandemic and the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 mRNA vaccine showed the highest association with angioedema, followed by influenza and typhoid vaccines. The study also noted that angioedema was more common in females and increased with age. The authors recommend further investigation into the causes and mechanisms of this reaction and stress the importance of post-vaccination surveillance, particularly among high-risk groups.
