Abstract

We compare children according to whether and to what extent they are deprived using the data from the German family survey “Growing up in Germany (in short: AID:A)” 2019. We classify the children into different types of relative deprivation using a Ward cluster analysis and use multinomial logistic regression models to estimate each child’s probability of being assigned to each type. Our results indicate the prevalence of relative deprivation of children covaries with economic and non-economic resources available to the children’s households. Further, we find only marginal differences between children within the same household. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
