Abstract
- This article discusses a case report of a pediatric patient with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) who developed neuropathy after using the medication dupilumab. Dupilumab is a new therapy approved for the treatment of EoE in adolescents and pediatric patients. The patient experienced significant improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms while on the medication, but developed paresthesias in his legs and torso after several months of use. The symptoms resolved after discontinuing the medication. The article also mentions two adult cases of neuropathy associated with dupilumab use. While the exact mechanism is unclear, it is suggested that the medication may cause a shift in inflammation that could contribute to the development of neuropathies. Physicians should be aware of this potential association and monitor patients for peripheral neurologic symptoms while on dupilumab. [Extracted from the article]
