Abstract

• A Simulink model of the lossy transmission line based on the waveform relaxation method. • The characteristic impedance and propagation constant are replaced by a lumped parameter network to address frequency issues. • The lossy transmission line for transient response analysis, improve modeling accuracy and computational efficiency. It is difficult to analyze the frequency-dependent characteristic impedance and propagation constant of lossy transmission lines under arbitrary excitation signals. A Simulink simulation model of lossy transmission lines is established by the waveform relaxation method to solve the above problem. Firstly, a non-intersecting two-port network model of lossy transmission lines is constructed based on lossy transmission line equations. In this model, the characteristic impedance is synthesized by T-type cascade network, and the propagation constant is synthesized by bridge circuit. Finally, the model is used to simulate the voltage response at the beginning and end of cascaded lossy transmission lines under different excitation signals and transmission line lengths. Compared with traditional methods, the proposed Simulink model can effectively perform time-domain analysis of lossy transmission lines with higher accuracy and computational efficiency, which provides a new approach to analyze transient response of lossy transmission lines.
