Abstract
- Introduction: physical activity is one of the modifiable risk factors for chronic noncommunicable diseases, whose prevalence is still low, and there are few data in the literature about the level of physical activity considering different domains (total activity, occupational activity, commuting, home activity and leisure time). Objective: to review the prevalence of physical activity in different domains and analyze the association between these domains and sociodemographic, economic and behavioral factors. Materials and Methods: Population-based cross-sectional study with data on physical activity in different domains (total, occupational, transport, household, and leisure time), sociodemographic data, and behavioral data. Sampling weights were assigned to gender, age, and education variables, and the association between the different domains and related factors was tested using Poisson regression. Results: 931 subjects were evaluated. Female sex was associated with total physical activity, commuting, and home; age was associated with total physical activity, occupation, and commuting. Schooling, nonwhite skin color, and smoking were each associated with leisure, domestic, and recreational domains. Socioeconomic level was associated with the commuting, household, and leisure domains. Overall physical activity, commuting, household, and leisure were associated with marital status. Conclusion: Physical activity levels differed across domains and associated factors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
