Emotional Consequences of Burn Nursing: A Phenomenological Approach.

AbstractNurses face various emotional challenges while providing care to burn patients. An existential-phenomenological approach was utilized to gain an insight into the emotional experiences of burn nurses. The semi-structured interviews were audio recorded with twenty-two burn nurses and analyzed with Colaizzi’s phenomenological method. Three themes were revealed: Emotionally overwhelming environment; Psychological trauma; Impact on quality patient care.
