EQUIPARAÇÃO ENTRE NAZISMO E COMUNISMO: USOS DO PASSADO E REPRESENTAÇÕES FALSAS NO BRASIL CONTEMPORÂNEO.

This article analyzes two bills presented by federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro in which he argues for an equalization between Nazism and Communism as equally criminal. In carrying out this analysis, I argue that the bills work as attempts to promote a social debate, beyond its approval or not. With this in mind, at first, a discussion of Bolsonaro's thesis is carried out in the light of historiography. In a second moment, I discuss the discursive procedures used and to what interests the narrative of the equivalence between Nazism and Communism are for. It is concluded that it can serve at least four distinct, but not mutually exclusive, interests: demonization of communism; defense of the civil-military dictatorship; normalization of Nazism and relativization of the Holocaust; presenting neoliberalism as the only alternative.
