Abstract

The present study was preparation a modified working electrode with exfoliated graphite (EG) decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The aim of the study is to obtain a highly conductive nanomaterial using in a cyclic voltammetric device to analyze the redox current peaks of chemical compounds, especially heavy metals, in different electrolytes, especially blood. The glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified with the exfoliated graphite (EG) decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). This modified electrode is referred to as (EG-AgNPs/GCE) and was used to study the electrochemical behavior of EG-AgNPs using the cyclic voltammetric technique at different concentrations, scan rates, pH, and the reliability–stability of the EG-AgNPs/GCE. The new modified electrode was used to detect the presence of heavy metals in blood and tap water. The results of cyclic voltammetry showed the anodic current peaks of EG-AgNPs increase with higher concentrations and EG-AgNPs/GCE has a high sensitivity by the present of nanoparticles on the glassy carbon electrode.
