Abstract
- Choosing the appropriate maintenance plan for any working system is very important from an economic and social point of view. A case study was applied in the electric power plant in a Haditha city on the diesel engine, and parts were studied, as well as the most serviceable and frequently failed part (the injector), which consists of (13) parts, was selected to choose the best maintenance plan for it, for reducing the number of failures and maintenance costs. Two types of maintenance are studied in this research; they are the preventive maintenance approved by the maintenance department in Haditha diesel power station and include a number of corrective maintenance between every two periods of preventive maintenance. In order to choose the best maintenance plan, six models of maintenance plans are proposed. Cost calculating, downtime, and repair time for each type of maintenance plan and comparing the results to find the best maintenance plan is performed with the lowest costs and number of breakdowns. After testing the proposed maintenance plans, one maintenance plan is selected with a cost appropriate for implementation. The first maintenance plan is excluded because it has the highest total cost = (185,377,000); as for the fifth and sixth maintenance plans, they are excluded because they end the life of the part before the end of its life span. Finally, the total costs of the second, third and fourth maintenance plans are compared and represented on a line chart to make it clear that the fourth maintenance plan, which is carried out every 3000 hours, is the best in terms of cost and number of faults, and does not lead to the replacement of the components of the product before the end of its life.
