Abstract

Ecological security is not only an important aspect of national security, but also a red line to ensure the sustainability of towns' social economy. This paper takes the ecologically fragile towns of Xi'an in western China as the research object, and uses the PSR model to establish a town ecological security evaluation index system consisting of 21 indicators. Based on multi-source data, the ecological security status of 125 towns in the study area was evaluated. The results indicate that the average ecological security index of towns in 2020 was 0.568, which is generally in a critical ecological security state. Insufficient water resources, high population density, low waste disposal rate, and low vegetation coverage are the main factors threatening the ecological security of local towns. Based on the evaluation results, sustainable development suggestions were proposed to provide support for the ecological security and sustainable development of local towns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
