Abstract
- Objective To assess the effectiveness of comprehensive nursing intervention on non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections with ulceration of facial skin, and to explore the possible influencing mechanisms. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 21 patients with facial skin NTM infections with ulceration admitted to the Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns of Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University from November 2017 to December 2020. The nursing intervention plan included: expanding, flushing and antibiotic combination drug therapy for facial dilatation, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) after debridement. The clinical data of the 21 patients were retrospectively analyzed using the Bates-Jensen wound assessment tool to evaluate the nursing effect. Results The comprehensive nursing intervention resulted in a significant reduction in reduced the facial redness, swelling and exudate levels, and improved the patient's satisfaction and quality of life. According to the Bates-Jensen wound assessment tool, the average score after treatment was [(26.52±5.46) points], which was significantly lower than that before treatment [(45.62±6.95) points], with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). In addition, the patient satisfaction score after treatment was [(8.76±0.89) points], which was significantly higher than that before treatment [(3.24±1.37) points], with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).
