This article discusses the concept of nonviolent resistance in authoritarian regimes. It explores how dictators use legal repression to deter dissent and protect their power, and how nonviolent resistance movements navigate this repression. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the factors that determine the success or failure of nonviolent resistance movements in holding dictatorial regimes accountable.
