Abstract
- Optimization of 4D modeling through the application of flexible linking rules using the example project "Weser crossing A281" The implementation of 4D modeling in construction projects faces significant challenges due to a static approach and the absence of established standards. In practice, implementation is mostly manual or relies on rigid, rule‐based linkages. Additionally, standards for establishing these linkage rules are lacking. This article addresses coping with this issue and introduces the application of flexible linkage rules through a case study. Flexible 4D modeling involves creating a customized code for each scheduling process to consider all project hierarchy levels. Based on a cross‐trade project information structure, a tailored filtering of geometric objects is conducted for each process. The result is a specific selection of geometric objects tailored to each process, interacting flexibly with it. The presented method of interdisciplinary and flexible linking rules for 4D modeling aims to increase efficiency and accuracy in construction projects by allowing different disciplines and trades, as well as their specific processes, to be flexibly accommodated while ensuring a consistent data structure simultaneously. This approach can contribute to optimizing the planning and execution of construction projects and promoting collaboration among project stakeholders by conducting 4D modeling based on a project information structure.
