Abstract

This article discusses the restructuring initiatives and major changes implemented by the AGO National Council in the past two years. The focus has been on bringing the AGO into the 21st century and improving the experience for all members. Some key innovations include restructuring the convention planning process, updating job descriptions, and revamping the nominations process. The article also highlights accomplishments and changes in competitions, new music, technology, communications, and finance. The AGO is working towards a more sustainable model while maintaining its mission to foster a thriving community of musicians. The organization is facing financial challenges but is well-managed with appropriate controls in place. Changes to bylaws and restructuring initiatives have been made to improve governance and leadership. The education program has seen significant success and is expanding through partnerships with colleges and universities. Reports from council members and regional councillors express gratitude for the contributions of volunteers and acknowledge the challenges faced during the pandemic. They highlight successful events and express optimism for the future of the AGO and its mission. [Extracted from the article]
