Abstract

A 54-year-old woman developed a hematoma in her anterior abdominal muscle while being treated with venlafaxine for moderate anxious depression. The woman experienced pain in her right iliac fossa five months after starting venlafaxine therapy. An abdominal ultrasound and CT scan revealed the hematoma. Various examinations were performed, and platelet aggregation tests showed abnormalities. The woman's venlafaxine therapy was discontinued, and the hematoma eventually resolved with no recurrence. The Naranjo score confirmed that the hematoma was likely caused by venlafaxine. [Extracted from the article]
