Nicorandil: Acute colitis.

A 50-year-old man developed acute colitis while being treated with nicorandil for acute myocardial infarction. He experienced acute bloody diarrhea with mucous for three days after thrombolysis. Despite receiving antibiotics and antiamoebics, his symptoms persisted. A flexible sigmoidoscopy revealed ulcerations and active bleeding. Biopsies showed inflammation but no infection or malignancy.
