Abstract

A 53-year-old woman developed acute lithium poisoning leading to nephrogenic diabetes insipidus during treatment for bipolar disorder. She had been receiving lithium for 14 years along with other medications for her condition. After experiencing symptoms such as confusion and muscle rigidity, she was diagnosed with acute lithium poisoning and severe renal failure. Treatment involved stopping lithium and sodium valproate, and administering potassium and amiloride. Her condition improved after a week, and she resumed taking sodium valproate alone once her renal function and electrolytes normalized. [Extracted from the article]
