Abstract

A 69-year-old man with a history of cirrhosis underwent a liver transplant and developed worsening encephalopathy, leading to coma and persistent fevers. After investigations, he was diagnosed with West Nile virus (WNV) meningoencephalitis. Treatment with immune globulin, methylprednisolone sodium succinate, remdesivir, and ribavirin was initiated, but the patient remained in a permanent minimally conscious state with near complete loss of brainstem function. Despite therapeutic intervention, the patient passed away after the withdrawal of life support. [Extracted from the article]
