Abstract

A case report published in Reactions Weekly describes a boy with autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis and superposed mild ichthyosis vulgaris who exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with ciclopirox and unspecified antiseptics for superinfections with Streptococcus spp. and Candida spp. Despite treatment, the boy experienced persistent itching and widespread skin inflammation. He was then treated with off-label dupilumab injections, which resulted in significant improvement in erythema flares, pruritus, and superficial cutaneous infections. The dose of dupilumab was adjusted to better control symptoms, and no adverse events were reported. [Extracted from the article]
