This article aims to analyze, on the one hand, the actions taken by the Mexican government in southern Mexico through its immigration policy, and on the other hand, contrast how the containment, it is hoped, of the population requesting immigration is experienced; refugee status. From an ethnographic approach, we are interested in showing this population's daily life and imaginaries in local spaces, at the work level, and in the construction of social networks.
