Abstract

The article discusses the aetiological profile of acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) in Assam, India, over a 4-year period from 2019 to 2022. The study aimed to determine the frequency of Japanese encephalitis (JE) and identify the causes of non-JE cases of AES. Results showed that 14.5% of samples tested positive for JE, while other AES cases were attributed to infectious diseases like measles, mumps, and scrub typhus. The study suggests the need for more comprehensive testing procedures and enhanced surveillance systems to improve the diagnosis and treatment of AES cases in India. [Extracted from the article]
