Abstract

A 60-year-old woman experienced hypermagnesemia while being treated with magnesium sulfate for hypomagnesemia. She had a history of melena and had previously undergone a subtotal gastrectomy. After receiving an oral solution of magnesium sulfate, she lost consciousness and was diagnosed with magnesium poisoning. She received various treatments in the intensive care unit, including calcium gluconate, sodium chloride, diprophylline, metaraminol bitartrate, and furosemide. Eventually, she underwent continuous renal replacement therapy, which successfully reduced her serum magnesium levels. Her symptoms improved, and she was discharged after conservative treatments.
