Abstract

A 47-year-old woman experienced pulmonary edema while being treated with buprenorphine/naloxone for chronic pain. She had a history of depression, chronic pain disorder, chronic tobacco use, and had undergone biliary stent placement. Initially, she was treated for community-acquired pneumonia, but her respiratory status worsened, leading to intubation and ventilation in the ICU. She responded well to treatment with diuretics and positive end-expiratory pressure, and was eventually extubated. This is the second episode of pulmonary edema she experienced while taking buprenorphine/naloxone. [Extracted from the article]
