Abstract

James Oughtibridge is a ceramic artist based in Yorkshire, England, who creates bold and dramatic sculptures using clay. He avoids using glazes and instead blends different clays together to achieve natural colors. Inspired by the Yorkshire Pennine landscape, his sculptures reflect the textures, beauty, and forms found in nature. Oughtibridge's work is characterized by ambiguity and a dramatic scale, with sharp lines and curved planes. He spends many hours building and refining his sculptures, with the entire process taking weeks or even months. Oughtibridge's work has gained recognition, including commissions for the James Bond film "Spectre" and exhibitions at prestigious art events. He also teaches courses from his studio and has a stable income from his art. [Extracted from the article]
