The text presents three possible dimensions of using Foucauldian thought in relation to the Latin American perspective of the writer to situate the present: political rationality, materialist ethics, and critical ontology. This perspective is part of a research program in which the author has already published several advances. It then focuses on the pragmatic concept of truth as a knotting factor of these three dimensions, and concludes with a possible diagnosis about why it is so challenging - yet indispensable - to currently make use of Foucauldian thought in the indicated sense.
