Abstract

Pulmonary diseases are among the most common complications of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, leading to significant morbidity and mortality in this population. As HIV-infected patients become older on successful antiretroviral therapy (ART), epidemiological data support a greater risk of noninfectious lung disorders associated with age, like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, and a previously unrecognized increased incidence of pulmonary fibrosis. We present a 68-year-old male patient with features of interstitial lung disease and histopathological appearance of coexistence of organizing pneumonia (OP) and usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP).
