Abstract

Fibers in animal feed have positive effects on digestion and the microbial population in the gastrointestinal tract of animals. There are differences between soluble and insoluble fibers. The quality of pellets can be improved by the use of lignocellulose. In particular, insoluble fibers have positive effects on the health and performance of animals, while soluble fibers can worsen the digestibility of protein, starch, and fat. A study has shown that lignocellulose can be a practical alternative with high loading capacity as a carrier for oils. Cellulose-based products such as microcrystalline cellulose gels are also used in animal nutrition, especially in new concepts such as insect production. [Extracted from the article]
