The article explores the etymology of the Turkish word for handkerchief and its origins in various languages. It also discusses the role of handkerchiefs in different contexts, such as religious celebrations, mining communities, and the film industry. The article further explores the impact of political events on Turkish society and the loss of minority populations. It concludes by discussing the symbolism of handkerchiefs in relation to love and cultural heritage. Another text explores the disappearance of handkerchiefs from daily life in Turkey. The author reflects on their childhood memories of using handkerchiefs and how they were once an important part of social and cultural practices. The text discusses the shift from handkerchiefs to disposable tissues and the reasons behind this change, including the influence of neoliberal policies and changing consumption patterns.
