Abstract

This article examines the history and cultural significance of handkerchiefs in Turkish society. It explains that handkerchiefs have multiple uses and are often used symbolically. The article explores the etymology of the Turkish word for handkerchief and its origins in various languages. It also discusses the role of handkerchiefs in different contexts, such as religious celebrations, mining communities, and the film industry. The article further explores the impact of political events on Turkish society and the loss of minority populations.
