Abstract
- The article "Words that Breathe Life" discusses a conversation between Sascha Heinze and Alfred Jokesch about the formulation of liturgical texts in communities. The "House of Silence" near Graz has published a collection of 35 Eucharistic prayers in order to find a more contemporary language that addresses current concepts of God and the world. The goal is to establish a connection between the sacred and the everyday. The authors also discuss the significance of church spaces and the diversity of images of God in our time. It is emphasized that language and imagery in theology and liturgy should be adapted to the present time. Heaven and hell should not be understood literally, but as metaphorical images of language that should be related to life here and now. It is emphasized that presence and experientiality are important in liturgy and that language should be understandable and appealing. It is also discussed that theology and prayers should evolve to reflect contemporary theology and worldviews. [Extracted from the article]
