Abstract

This article discusses a rare complication of endotracheal intubation called acute kinking of pilot balloon tubing. The case study involves a 56-year-old man undergoing cardiac surgery who experienced a disparity between delivered and expiratory tidal volumes, as well as audible sounds in the throat during mechanical ventilation. The problem was identified as an acute kink at the junction of the endotracheal tube and pilot balloon tubing. The authors emphasize the importance of recognizing and addressing such complications for the smooth conduct of general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation. [Extracted from the article]
