Abstract

The article discusses the intersection of ageing and migration and its implications for various aspects of society. It highlights that the global population is experiencing a significant increase in the number of older individuals, with projections showing that the number of people aged 65 and over will more than double by 2050. Additionally, it notes that there are approximately 281 million international migrants, with older migrants comprising 12.3% of the world's migrant population. The article emphasizes the need for research that examines the life course of migrants and the impact of migrancy on individuals and their networks. It also calls for a deeper understanding of the experiences of older migrants in relation to racism and social stratification. Finally, the article suggests that the ageing-migration nexus offers opportunities to challenge methodological nationalism and explore alternative understandings of society and integration.
