Abstract

Brain implants that allow people with paralysis to regain lost abilities are advancing rapidly. Companies like Neuralink, founded by Elon Musk, are developing chips that can be surgically implanted in the brain to enable individuals to control computers and devices with their thoughts. Other researchers are also making progress in using brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) to restore movement and speech in people with spinal cord injuries, strokes, and motor conditions. While BCIs show promise, there are still significant challenges to overcome before they can be used for more complex tasks like memory manipulation or skill downloading. [Extracted from the article]
